Favourite career moment to date

Receiving the phone call during de-rig telling me that we had just won the 2015 British musical championships. The show took many months to prepare and the emotions at that moment will stay with me for a long time.

What do you most enjoy about your job as a pyrotechnician

Those 30 seconds after the show when you hear the roars and cheers from the crowd are what make the often long hard working hours’ worth it.

What aspect of your job do you least enjoy?

The clear up after the show, by this time your often tired, wet and cold and you just want to go home and warm up but you can’t until the job is done.

Favourite Project to have worked on:

My favourite project has to be working out in Dubai on NYE in 2013. Being one of the privileged few to be half way up the Burj Khalifa at the firing desk. From up there we could see the entire World Record show which spanned 5km across the palm islands and 9km across the world islands. The image is one that will be firmly burned to my retina for life.

How would your colleagues describe working with you?

Motivational and entertaining.

What is one thing you absolutely will check off your “bucket” list:

To satisfy my need for adrenaline I would like to pass my AFF license. My ambition has always been to learn to skydive, so I guess the first step would be to get my license.

If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go and why?

WDW in Florida. My parents first took me there when I was 10 and I still remember the feeling “the magic” when first walking down main street. My dream is to take my daughter so she can experience the same.

One of your proudest moments?

Holding my baby girl for the first time when she was born.
